Bridgette Haydenabout this book: Sonny Preyer is hiding in human form among ordinary teenagers. Hiding from his deity ancestry, hiding from keeping a deadly promise, and hiding from a dark entity bent on killing anything that stands between it and Sonny. But he can no longer hide. At eighteen, his powers unfold, attracting the very thing that hunts him.
The first eight months of writing Sonny Preyer, was bliss. It was what I've dreamt writing could be. Then the story began rushing into my mind with such force and momentum, I got scared and panicked, and poof! The door to his world slammed in my face. From that moment on, for the next four years, writing came to a painful, tearful crawl. I could never understand why this activity that I claimed to love had to be so painful. Later, I realized my fear of not living up to my private, creative wishes, plays a huge part in that pain. I have to write because it's wonderful, but I fear it because the task of structuring and fine-tuning experiences for others, is so daunting. The better your inner experience as a writer, the harder you have to work to pass that on to a reader. So it's kind of a catch 22. The better it feels to dream, the harder it is to give birth to that dream. But I wouldn't trade it for anything.
