Shereen Vedamabout this book: Inspired by Sleeping Beauty
This is a fast-paced read that seamlessly blends fantasy elements with historical romance. Editing this book taught me how to trim unnecessary scenes while focusing on developing the relationship between a hero and heroine.
Although this book was inspired by the fairytale, Sleeping Beauty, the idea for the storyline came from Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, where a heroine, while in disguise, falls in love. Made me think about the importance of having the courage to reveal your true identity in order to lay claim to love.
Here's a summary of the plot:
In 1813 London, England, when reclusive Lady Roselyn Ravenstock's only remaining friend is viciously murdered, she dons a hidden identity and sets out to bring the ruthless killer to justice. Sir Phillip Jones, the Regent's favored spy, returns home from war to win back the woman he loves but when he witnesses her fleeing a murder scene, he is desperate to unravel what has to be a case of mistaken identity. As a devious killer closes in on Rose, can she and Phillip put aside their mutual distrust and reclaim their lost love before she is forced to face the hangman's noose?
