Faydra D. Fieldsabout this book: Is there any credence to the idea that birth order can affect how children turn out?
In 'Another Chance,' Robert "Bobby" Thennel and Gavin Thennel are the youngest and second-youngest in a family of four boys, and the two have been at odds with one another their entire lives.
Bobby ends up taking a different path from his other brothers, who follow their father and uncles into law enforcement, as Bobby can't seem to stay out of trouble.
While everyone else in the family continues to tolerate Bobby's drug and alcohol abuse, bailing him out of one bad spot after another, Gavin gives up on Bobby after Gavin and his wife open their home to the youngest Thennel and he robs them blind.
No matter what the family says, Gavin refuses to give Bobby any more chances, and then a call in the wee hours of the morning that lets Gavin know Bobby has been killed in a car accident changes the relationship between Bobby and Gavin forever.
