Diane Griffithabout this book: This fictional story is loosely based on my life, so it is mainly about feelings, situations and real people, their lives and tragedies. It is about love, excitement, hope, pain, disappointment despair and happiness. Since I have experienced all these feelings it has been written from my heart. Set in and around Merseyside, from 1958 to 1980.
The main character is Stella and it covers over 20 years of her life, describing all her emotions from starting out as an innocent young girl, to finishing as a woman, who has gone from one disastrous relationship to another. However she is able to overcome everything with the help of her friend Jill, who is more than a friend, she is, in the end her salvation.
It is about not giving up hope. If you have a will to go on, you can overcome the very darkest hour. What mattered so desperately at the time simply becomes a memory. For that is life! And that is just the way it happens.

Later she meets the handsome, charmer, Pete West and finds with him, a passion so strong that it shocks her, but this relationship has a darker side that also attracts her.
When Steve Murphy enters her life Stella wonders if this gentle, caring man has come to rescue her. Pete and Steve are powerful men in different ways and she loves them both, yet each of them is determined to posses her body and soul.

Her first love, Paul is ever present in her heart and her love for him is mixed with feelings of anger and desperation; although she believes that she would always love him the way that she had done when she was a young innocent girl.
It is only the strong bond of friendship that grows and deepens with Jill that pulls Stella out of the abyss of unhappiness into which she is sinking. And it is through Jill that Stella eventually finds the very special man with a secret, who truly loves her and so changes all their lives …Does Stella make the right decisions?
