Book: Unspeakable and Other Stories by Lucy Taylor

Lucy Taylorabout this book: I grew up in the South, where perversity and impeccable etiquette are practiced with equal zeal, sometimes simultaneously. It was become a fiction writer or a crazy person, and I suppose I've done a little of both. See for yourself in my most recent book, a collection of horror and erotica called "Unspeakable and Other Stories."
One of the stories, "Prenuptials," was written in a motel room while hiding out from an ex-lover who was stalking me. (Alas, God had given him a beautiful body but a deranged mind.) Another story "Girl Under Glass" could be considered a metaphor for my childhood: a Narcissistic mother decides to use her child for the ultimate revenge against her former husband. And in the title story, "Unspeakable," sexually charged 'fetish words' are the means of both torment and ecstasy for the main characters, a sexually repressed woman and an ex-convict biker into self-mutilation.
All of these stories, in one way or another, look at life within the deranged and delusional system of what I call Families Gone Mad, those nearest and dearest to us who, with either the best or the worst of intentions, conspire to do us in. And if there's an undercurrent of Southern gothic seasoning, then that just adds to the spice.
