Michael Mullinabout this book: Years ago when I worked at Disney, I wrote 2 sequel stories to Tim Burton's "The Nightmare Before Christmas." (The film was inspired by his picture book.) I met with Burton, and he approved both stories . . . but they never got published. I left Disney and as an original follow-up I wrote a short tale about an unknown 8th dwarf named Creepy.
That story received rave, 5-star reviews as a self-published eBook, prompting a second original tale about a teen princess who hires the witch from "The Frog Prince" to get revenge on a Mean Girl at school. "The Plight and Plot of Princess Penny" was also well received in the book blogosphere. That's when the brand "TaleSpins" was born. After finishing the 3rd story: "Jack'd" (giant... boy thief ... beans...), I released a trilogy compilation.
I've had a wonderful time building this brand and I've still a long way to go. The cover art, title pages and spot illustrations are by John Skewes, former Disney artist and creator of the Larry Gets Lost picture book series.
