Author Daniel Allen DuBourabout this book: The Prince that Would Be King is a modern day fairy tale about a prince who is abducted as an infant and shipped off to New York City. The story begins at the birth of this child prince in a far away kingdom. The king and queen proclaimed a day of celebration throughout the kingdom. Many well wishers throughout the kingdom came to celebrate the birth of this first born child and air to the throne; That is with one exception, the Kings brother. If the child had not been born, the king's brother would be the next in line to the throne.

After the infant disappears, search parties are formed at the order of the king's brother. The king and queen were frantic in their quest to get their baby prince back. The maid servant was discharged, however that hadn't softened the pain of loosing their little prince.

The story shifts to New York City where the prince was taken by an adoption agency. The prince is adopted by a young couple who loves and cares for him as their very own. The prince, now living with commoner, lives a relatively common life. He goes to public schools and surpasses all other students with his intelligence getting all "A's" in every subject. After his twelfth year in high school, he receives a scholarship to New York University.

During his high school senior year, his adopted mother passes away. His adopted father is so distraught over his wife's death; he decides to tell the boy he had been adopted. When finding out the truth about his adoption, the prince decides to enter law school at the university figuring he would have a better chance of finding his real parent if he were a lawyer.

As all good fairy tales, this one comes to a happy ending and they all live happily ever after
