Cynthia P. Willowabout this book: Patty Gayle and the Legend of Kingsley is a magical fairytale with an old-fashioned flavor. Set in 1960, it tells the tale of a young girl who is predestined to do great things. After inheriting an old key, Patty Gayle is determined to find out what it unlocks. Once she begins this quest, she discovers much more than she ever thought possible. Through trials and tests, Patty realizes who she is and gains confidence in her own abilities as well as strengthens her faith.
This book was inspired by my mother's life on Kingsley Lake. All ages and genders will enjoy this story, but primarily 10-15 year old girls.
"Even though it is intended for a very young audience, I found it very entertaining. The first half of the book brought back fond memories of a simpler place and time - transistor radios, record players, Elvis records, green stamps, and getting your windshield washed at the garage. Being the same age as Patty Gayle, I felt like I was going back in time." ~ Vera S.
This story has been worked on in one way or another since my own childhood, but once I began writing it, it took about 6 years of writing, research, interviewing, and editing.
