Aubrianna Hunterabout this book: Bree (Aubrianna Daniels) is a forty year old single mother of two kids. Her husband of seventeen years cheated on her and she left looking to start a new life. Risking everything to do it, she has managed to make the life she always dreamed of. With her own business, two beautiful teenagers, a gorgeous home and the peace she has always been searching for, what more could she possibly need?
What about love? Shane Connolly is immediately attracted to the skittish and elusive woman he 'bumps' into in the town center. The question is can he sneak by her defenses and into her heart?
This book came about because Bree is everything I want to be, except single! LOL. She is strong, stubborn, independent, loving and kind. I needed a man for her that was strong enough to break through her barriers, yet gentle enough to truly deserve her love. Enter Shane. He is a modern day warrior, fighting battles to keep his community safe. Yet on a personal level he is all things kind, warm and caring. A perfect match for Bree.
Since the names are so similar, I am often asked if Bree is based on me, personality wise. Sadly, no. She really is the person I most wish to be like, the type of personality I would love to have. Unfortunately, my brain is just a little more chaotic and unfocused than hers is. As for personality... the closest character to me in any of my books is actually Melanie, or Mel, the best friend in this story. The snarky comments and sassy humor, not to mention the direct and unsubtle shoves she gives Bree are all based on exactly what I would say and do! LOL.
The title is pronounced Shee-o-con. It means peace in Gaelic. I knew I wanted to book to be titled something serene, but not in English. Using some of my personal heritage, (Irish among a lot of others) I looked into some Gaelic words and immediately Siochain jumped out at me. It was perfect, though hard to pronounce! LOL.
This was the first book I actually wrote, although the second released, so the entire thing was a learning experience. The characters were easy since they were and still are as real to me as my friends and neighbors, but finding their story and making it feel real was a new challenge. There are actually two or three scenes that I wrote for this book, before I wrote much else, that didn't make the final cut because they just didn't feel organic to the characters.
