Tim Popperabout this book: This is, I think, the first book-length work featuring balloon fetishists as main characters. It is about a middle-aged, married man named Henry, and a young, single woman named Melanie, whose lives barely cross paths until they are thrown together, but who share the same fetish for toy balloons.
Blowing It! was originally going to be a simple erotic book, lots of sex scenes and not much else. But as I wrote, the characters in the book asserted themselves, and wouldn't let me chicken out on writing a real story about people. I shouldn't have expected anything else; after all, whatever their unusual sexual interests, fetishists are only human. I know, because I happen to be one.
I hope my readers, whom I expect will be fetishists like myself, will also come away feeling connected to these characters, and wanting to know what happens to them after the end of the book. And I would be thrilled if some non-fetishists also read the book, not to learn about the fetish, because its purpose is not to teach, but to enjoy a fun, erotic story about people who, except for their fetish, are just like people you know.
