Kate Kinseyabout this book: Okay, we're all sick to death of hearing about "Fifty Shades of Grey" (at least I am!) but if you liked that one, you might like this one.
What makes me think that?
Well, you're obviously an avid reader, you like erotica and, even if you aren't rushing out to buy leather cuffs, you've got an open mind about something beyond the missionary position.
Of course, you might also be appalled and horrified by "Red" because it's not exactly the same kind of book. Neither is it exactly like the other 2,341 books currently being rushed into print to try and cash in on the success of FSoG.
No ridiculously young millionaires here. No sweet, naive virgin biting her lower lip until it should be completely chewed off by now.
"Red" is an erotic thriller, a fast-paced thrill ride that takes you deep into the real world of BDSM.
I didn't just research this on a couple of websites. I live in this world, and have for more than ten years now. I got tired of reading erotica about BDSM written by tourists without a clue in which the word "sadist" is synonymous with "serial killer." I've written what I wanted to read: something honest, passionate, smart and exciting.
Detective Tom Hanson has two bodies, killed in the same violent and grisly way. But he can't find anything to link the victims except a symbol that looks vaguely familiar. But where has he seen it?
Finally he remembers that he's seen that symbol on a chain around the throat of the most passionate lover he'd ever known: his former partner, Gina Larsen, a sexy redhead with a whip and an attitude problem.
Hanson hasn't seen or spoken to Gina since she left the police department in disgrace when her secret life as a dominatrix was exposed. Now she's the only one who can guide him through the shadowy world of the BDSM community, where just about everybody is hiding something.
As the trail leads him deeper into a world of fantasy and dark desires, his own hunger for Gina threatens to consume him until he is no longer sure he can tell the difference between duty and desire, pain and pleasure ... right and wrong.
