Julius St. Clairabout this book: This book is a labor of love born out of my admiration for my former students. Underestimated, forgotten and seen as worthless, they continued to fight against their environment, conditions and even their parents in some cases to succeed. They faced more horrors than many adults have experienced in their life time and I write this for them.
The main character, James, may be a lazy slacker in the beginning, but it is just the beginning of his journey. Forced from his home and sent to an academy in which many don't come back alive, he must finally choose between the destiny he has sought for in his dreams, or accept the unflattering labels of his community.
Along the way he finds friendship, romance, and most of all, belief in himself.
The main lesson that I want to get across to my readers is that sometimes you may fail at trying to reach your dreams, but as long as you don't quit, you will reach it. You just have to be strong and not worry about the negative. Keep your eye on the prize, and you will succeed.
