When I wrote Magnus Opum, I wanted to create a story in an epic fantasy style, but one that was uniquely different from the norm. One that was full of tricks and surprises, and that had fun with the conventions of tradition fantasy.
It's all about the adventures of Magnus, a Hobbit-like fellow, who goes off and has a big adventure. But things don't turn out quite as he expected along the way. There's lots of action and lots of adventure and lots of laughs along the way. There's lots of action and lots of excitement and lots of laughs along the way. And plenty of unusual characters, such as the gossipy Doosies, the excitable Pharsheeth, and the seldom seen but much discussed Diperagoff (which is seldom seen but much discussed).
That's why I like to describe it as epic fantasy that's slightly skewed - Tolkien with a twist.
