David J Cooperabout this book: This book has lots of expressions that are used everyday in spoken English. The expressions can help students of English who are at an advanced level and is also a very useful reference for candidates preparing for TOEFL and Cambridge courses. Most of the expressions are used in the Listening and Reading sections of the TOEFL exam.
I have been teaching English in Mexico for 14 years and this book is worth investing in especially if students want to express themselves in English more naturally.
I noticed when I was teaching English to Mexican students, that they always had difficulties with expressions, mainly because there was no literal translation for them. These expressions are used in movies therefore the students found it difficult to understand parts of the movies they were watching.
Many coursebooks only touch on English expressions, so by using this book as a reference students will be able to improve their understanding of the language.
Primary readers of this book will be foreigners at an intermediate or advanced level of English.
