Suzi Loveabout this book: Images of Easter through history, including artworks, postcards, and Faberge eggs and jewelry.
Easter in Images is Book 2 in my Historical Events Series and is a companion book to History of Christmases Past, both of which focus on the customs and traditions celebrated throughout world history at the time of these important religious holidays.
This book is full of paintings and images of Easter through history and is a non-fiction visual feast which include artworks, postcards, and Faberge eggs and jewelry.
Many of these gorgeous Faberge eggs were created at the Faberge factory especially for members of the Russian royalty to commemorate important events, such as family easter together, Russian soldiers in the wars or returning home, or to celebrate the lives and crowning of individual Russian czars.
These eggs were highly sort after and many ended up in the royal collections of several other European countries. And for those who couldn't afford eggs, postcards became the way of celebrating Easter with friends and developed form religious themes to children, flowers, and happy days.
If you like looking at historic artworks about the beginning of Easter and its religious aspects, or love pretty vintage postcards, or want to drool over some gorgeous Faberge jewelry, this is the book for you.
