J. Richardsonabout this book: This is the fourth book in The Days After series, Chain of Strangers. I'm fascinated by the dystopian world following a catastrophic event and have written eight novels that dealt with the subject. Like all of my books, this story stands alone. I like for my readers to be able to pick up any of the novels, in any order and have a interesting story with a conclusion. Though there might be threads of connections to previous novels in my books, each is different. I'm not a fan of cliff hanger endings.
The young survivor in this novel finds himself stranded nearly 400 miles from home, following an EMP event. He must make a long and perilous trip, on his own, to reach what he hopes will be the haven of his hometown. I greatly enjoy developing and becoming familiar with characters. This is a book of characters, some that will help Tyler on his travels and some that will present danger and obstacles. The setting of this story is dystopian Texas, I believe the point of view is a little different. The story is not about how the young man is managing to survive the catastrophe, it is about the people he encounters on the trip and the influence they have on his life and on his chance to survive in the future.
Even though I had just recently completed and finished the third book in this series, it seemed this story just grew in my head. I was interested and excited to meet the people I had never met, travel around the next bend in the road. I found myself tapping away at the computer keys daily, anxious to tell this story to my readers.
