J. Richardsonabout this book: After writing four books in a previous series, I remained fascinated with the genre of dystopian fiction. I wanted to explore other locations and characters and wrote a novel about the owner of a paddle wheeler in New Orleans, who found himself in the midst of a catastrophic event. Clay, his old friend, Louis, with his wife and son and his newly hired hostess Angel and her small daughter make a perilous journey to escape New Orleans. Up two mighty rivers and hundreds of miles, these survivors will struggle to reach the haven of the farm of Clay's brother in South Dakota.
The research and exploration of the route of these travelers was fascinating to me personally and I enjoyed every mile of their journey. Also, the development of new bonds and relationships that can be forged from adversity kept me wanting to venture around the next bend in the river. A second book became available February 2014, which follows the changes and adventures of survival, ten years after the event.
