Gaspar DeMarcoabout this book: The book started out as an idea of a family going on their first vacation together. The secondary scene was the African-American cop in a altercation with the white father. The middle part of what happens to the family, how it happens, and the ending took the longest to come about. There were several thoughts, and drafts, of how it would be written. Even now, I think of several different endings. On writing the book, I had this idea that kept nagging me, so instead of dismissing it, I wrote it down, and just went from there. The book took about a year to write, then when I was finished, I put it away for a while, since it had taken a lot for me to write.
The title did not take me long to figure, but I wanted a nice serene cover to mask the tragedy in the book. There are several things I learned from writing my first book. Starting it was hard, and then developing the characters. Once I started, and had the thought process going, I didn't want to stop, since I didn't want to forget my thought process. Then, the book kept getting longer, and longer, and I didn't know where, or when it would end, until I got to the last paragraph. I would like my readers to enjoy this book, and also leave me some feedback as to what their thoughts are on it.
