C. Michaelsabout this book: C. Michaels wrote this story after spending many years fly fishing with her husband in Idaho, and falling in love with the small town culture that is situated among one of Mother Nature's finest feats. It is the first in a series, NO FEAR! taking place 25 years after Cross Roads.
While this story is intended for adults, it takes on the dazzling life of the fly fishing sportsman.
"The descriptions of the passion and peace that fishing brings made me suspect I am missing out. It sounds like a wonderful and relaxing way to unwind and meditate on what's next.
Most enjoyable was the way the story kept me guessing? The drama was moving and the ending was great." ~ Linda Hartwell
Ben Cross returns to Wind River, a small fishing village in Idaho to discover that his good friends are in need of help. The powerful owner of a luxury hotel, Mr. Templeton, intends to drive them out of business so he can add their small inn to his portfolio.
The game begins, with one group of characters pitting themselves against another. But it soon becomes apparent that no one can be trusted. Greed takes over, creating a chaotic set of plots.
Enter Mickey, an old man who is on a quest of his own. Ben doesn't trust him at first. Over time, their relationship grows into a father/son like love. But still, Ben worries about this man who believes he is an angel. Is he mentally off? Could he do harm to himself, or to others?
The twists and turns in this story will keep the reader guessing to the end.
"Ms. Michaels both delights and confuses the reader by doubling back and presenting different ideas as to whom may be the villain. Can you guess who? Whether you love Romance, Mystery, or Contemporary Fiction you'll get it here." ~ L. Leander, Author
When you're finished with this read, you will be left wanting more, not realizing the colossal damages that greed and lust have done to affect the future of your new friends, the residents of Wind River.
C. Michaels throws a touch of fantasy in many of her books. The very real characters intertwined with, in this case, an old man who believes he's an angel add to the story's intrigue.
Michaels enjoys introducing twists into her suspense novels, a difficult web to track. Her efforts in this story are intended to keep the reader guessing while presenting a logical reasoning for each character's actions.
