Book Review: A Mother's Courage - Saving Your Children from the Trauma of Abuse in the Home by Suzy Milhoan

Suzy Milhoanabout this book: Over 1 Billion children are affected by domestic abuse in the home worldwide now or in their past.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness month and this book is being offered for .99c the entire month. Also, for every book purchased, one will be donated to domestic violence shelters.
This book is about my family's struggle watching our mother abused for over thirty years. Our goal for the book is to educate abused mothers of what their children are going through, based on the effects on us. That is so they will do everything they can to get out.
This book is a culmination of over 20 years of thoughts, discussions and interviews with five of the siblings (including myself). Once the interviews were done, I did extensive research on what each of the interviewees said to get to the top effects the abuse had on us, the children.
My mother was also interviewed and she discusses the background on her situation and how she was finally able to get out after 30 years.
The first part of the book contains: the negative thoughts/feelings the children have. These basically steal their childhood away. Part Two includes the psychological issues that will occur to them and finally Part Three contains the coping skills/bad choices the children will make because of the issues in part 1 & 2 over a period of time.
The hardest part of writing my book is the emotional toll that it took on me and that is what has been holding me back. But with that work came great healing for me and my family and I'm hoping it can help others in a similar situation.

OUTSTANDING description of DV effects on ChildrenThis book details out the traumatic effects on children when watching their mother being abused. It is told by those most knowledgeable in this, the kids that were affected. This book is critical so abused mothers can understand this because it is so hard for them to do that when they are mired down from the abuser. Suzy Milhoan is compassionate in her quest to get the word out, please help her do that. [by Taggart]
