Amanda Lewisabout this book: If you are a loving pet owner, we most likely have similar beliefs regarding our four legged friends. My philosophy is if you are going to bring a pet into your home, then you are responsible for their well-being - just like the rest of your family. I don't consider myself a "Suzy Homemaker" who goes full blown into "homemade" everything, but I do believe our pets are an integral part of our family and thus they deserve the same attention and care.
With this belief came the foundation for my "Dog Treat Recipes" books. If you buy your pet's biscuits and treats, just try reading the label and you will quickly want to find a more healthy alternative for your four legged best friend! When I can't read the ingredients or it sounds like I'm feeding our babies "chemicals", it's time to go in the kitchen and start mixing.
I'm not one of those folks who is fanatical, but I do believe in healthy and the store bought treats and biscuits, in my opinion, are not exactly my idea of healthy. Between the chemicals, the unknown ingredients and filled with enough preservatives to last on the store shelf for years, I needed another opinion. Thus, my collection of recipes for our pets was created.
I've been experimenting and fine tuning these for years. You would be surprised how much your pet can let you know if the recipe is good or not. Most dogs will give you their opinion pretty quick - they just don't eat it if they don't like it. So, I guess our pets are my true "kitchen testers".
To ensure the ingredients and recipes are healthy and up-to-date, I monitor several authority websites for the latest information and health reports regarding our pets and their nutrition. Plus, I am a big proponent for visiting our veterinarian frequently to make sure our pets are just as healthy as they are loved.
I've created hundreds of biscuit, cookies and special treats for our pets over the years. I share dozens and dozens of these with you in both "Dog Treat Recipes I" and "Dog Treat Recipes II" - all are quick and easy, fun for the family to make together and "spoil" your four legged best friends.
Plus, both books are filled with nutritional information, tips and guides for keeping your "babies" healthy, happy and well. I hope you enjoy these books as much as I did creating it! I wish you much success in your creations, long life with your pets and to enjoy their journey with your family!
