Cynthia MacGregor about this book: Even for a teenager, coping with parental divorce is a tough challenge. In common with DIVORCE HELPBOOK FOR KIDS, which is written for a younger audience, this book makes such points as that the divorce is in no way the child's fault, even if Dad or Mom seemed angrier at the child than usual prior to the divorce, and that Mom and Dad will NEVER stop loving the child even if they have stopped loving each other. The book gets into the custody arrangement and visitation, prepares the teenager for feeling strange when going to Dad's new house to visit for the first time, talks about long-distance relationships when Dad has moved away (or when Mom and the kids have done so), and deals with many of the other fears, concerns, and situations that may occur in the wake of a parental split. The book talks to the child in a warm, friendly, comforting tone. It makes suggestions for how the child can help himself or herself to feel better, whom he/she can talk to for further advice and comfort, and even where to find a father figure if Dad has moved out of town.
