Christopher Gordonabout this book: Have you ever read the great book Jurassic Park or watched the fantastic movies and loved them but came away thinking... "What if the dinosaurs were bred, but not simply for a family friendly tourist park but for nefarious reasons...?"
Have you ever read Ender's Game or watched the movie and thought it was thrilling but walked away thinking, what if saving the world was not down to just one exceptional kid, what if it relied on a whole school of kids, all with no particular skills other than for getting into trouble?
Have you ever read Hunger Games or watched the movie and thought it was amazing but asked yourself what if every school child faced an equally dangerous challenge? In fact, what if your school itself was the challenge?
Have you ever read Battle Royale or watched the shocking movie and thought, wow, yes but I could never let my kids read or watch that… what if there was something similarly thought provoking that parents would actually be comfortable with allowing their kids to enjoy…
So I did just that. I imagined our future where science recreated the dinosaurs and took the discovery to a place we might all fear to tread. What kind of future, you may ask, would allow such a creation? Why would they do that? Surely, it a cruel and misguided world? Who would benefit? And more to the point, who would suffer? Quite a mystery, no? And the answers?
Revealed in the children's science fiction action adventure of The Dinosaur Games series.
Scary stuff? Well, yes and no. Kids love to be scared, but it's nothing your average ten or eleven year old wouldn't enjoy.
Thought provoking? Over the four books in the series so far, a growing sense of the philosophical nature of science and the direction civilization may be heading gets under the skin.
Action packed? Hell Yeah! Never a dull minute.
Fun? Isn't that after all what books should be.
The moral of the story? After reading The Dinosaur Games, your kids may even consider reading longer and studying harder at school… just in case they end up in The Dinosaur Games.
And in a nutshell? High school drop outs forced to become gladiators, ride and fight dinosaurs for their freedom.
