Amanda Brennerabout this book: Tainted Legacy is the story of a fledgling detective's first case. It is the first book of what I hope will be a detective series; right now it is the first of three. I tried to be logical about the way someone who is retired might go about developing another career and relocating to another city. I then followed my character as he retrained while capitalizing on his previous work as an insurance investigator, a field that came in handy when he needed the same contacts in his new profession.
I chose the cover because the story involves the theft of a young girl's legacy, a valuable necklace from her grandmother; it is a legacy tainted by the memories it raises, which are explained in the story. Pearls spilling out of a goblet seemed appropriate. I envision my detective as plagued by self doubt while attracting unusual and unlikely clients. This work is for those who want a good story that will linger long after the book is finished.
