Book: That One May Smile (Garda West Crime Novels Book 1) by Valerie Keogh
|4 stars based on the 3 most helpful Amazon reviews|
Valerie Keoghabout this book: A missing husband, a dead body in a graveyard. A beautiful woman and a handsome Irish Detective. Mix them together for a great mix of crime and romance. Will they, won't they, do they don't they - read and find out.
I grew up reading detective novels and so it seemed natural to write them. I love the complexity of the stories, trying to keep the reader out of the secret for just long enough. I wrote That One May Smile in about two years, I've become more disciplined now and the third in the series, Murder on Clare Island was written in four months.
The cover of the book was taken in the churchyard behind where I live in the UK. I used the graveyard in my story, took the photograph and had a cover designer finish it off for me. Because I write two different series I wanted readers to be able to easily distinguish one from the other so I go for more natural covers for this series while my other, which is a darker crime series, has a skull on each cover.
The hardest part of writing, for me, initially, was believing in myself. Positive reviews and comments from readers have made this part so much easier.
I love to hear from readers, it is the best part of being an author.
