Marla Martensonabout this book: Diary of a Beverly Hills Matchmaker is my 3rd book and was the most fun and challenging to write. My first two books were dating advice books, which were shorter and a bit easier. I realized just how much I loved writing with my first two, but had no more dating advice to give.
I love reading memoirs, especially snarky, humorous ones such as Bitter is the New Black by Jen Lancaster. One night over drinks, a girlfriend of mine suggested that I write a memoir about my life as a Beverly Hills Matchmaker. "Marla, your job is so unique and bizarre at times, you just have to write a memoir," she said. I loved the idea, and starting writing the next day!
A big part of the story is my relationship with my Latin husband, Adolfo. I fondly call him Ricky, after Ricky Ricardo. He doesn't like this, but does admit that we are like Ricky and Lucy. He is a Latin musician, and I am a zany redhead always trying to get in the show.
