Elizabeth Overstreetabout this book: There are tons of books out there about dating and relationships. What makes my book unique is I have done extensive research of the most successful dating books, interpreting the best advice, distilling advice which is not relevant to the audience, and adding my own take as well as others experiences on dating and relationships.
I come from a long line of successful relationships, having parents and grandparents who have been married over 50 years. Family, and friends have passed on many nuggets of information to me, as I have often been the go-to person for advice when people are going through or having relationship challenges. Coupled with my own experience of being married, divorced, in long-term relationships, etc. I have learned a lot, helped a lot of people with their relationships, etc.
I was inspired to write the book for many years, but after going through a devastating break-up from a long-term relationship, I found putting the pen to paper to serve as a cathartic way of dealing with the emotional ups and downs. The more I wrote and reflected on what I learned from that relationship and others I had been in, the more it helped me in my healing process. I am a bit obsessive about relationships and their dynamics in a good way because it seems as though we spend a lot of time preparing for lots of things in life i.e. careers, planning a vacation, wedding, etc.- but when it comes to choosing our partners and the preparation that goes into this important choice - we struggle. And with my book and future books I plan to write on relationships, I want to change this for others and make the process of being in a relationship easier.
As far as choosing the theme and title. Thought it would be neat to have an investigator theme, because we often read all of these various dating books to get information, but walk away with missing pieces of advice we may have needed to address a relationship dynamic we struggled with in a current or previous relationship.
This book does exactly that. It is a cliff-notes version or fast guide to understanding dating and relationships that covers male and female perspectives in dating and in relationships. I want my readers to feel happy in relationships, but I feel this journey starts with being happy with ourselves. It is a process and part of the journey to attracting the right person into our lives.
I can go on and on because I love this topic, but I am hopeful that you will be willing to share my book with your readers. Thanks for the opportunity.
