The Check Out is a satirical novel about a group of grocery store employees who are desperately searching for a way out of their horrible lives. When a $10,000 giveaway is announced, they each decide to make a grab for the cash.
The Check Out is inspired by Film Noir and rooted in Exploitation cinema. An ensemble piece, the novel weaves a fast paced tale from the point of view of each of its characters.
