Donna Huston Murrayabout this book: When Richard's former Sorbonne roommate begged him to babysit a museum in the south of France, it wasn't his art expertise Tom wanted, it was his combat experience. The chateau had been experiencing vandalism on a suspiciously regular basis, but Tom's wedding couldn't and shouldn't be postponed. As an antidote for London's chilling rain, two weeks in the sun sounded perfect, but Richard soon learned that destruction and theft were not all that plagued the unique tourist attraction.
Note: My father-in-law was once in charge of the real Château de la Napoule, owned by the University of Pennsylvania at the time. Pop arranged for his family to stay inside the quirky, sculpture-filled museum for a few days during a once-in-a-lifetime trip. Since my husband was "the tallest Murray in a hundred years" we got the original artist/owner's bedroom and actually woke up with a hand-made metal rooster hanging over our heads. Almost all the other details about the chateau in DYING FOR A VACATION are accurate, too.
