Alison Goldenabout this book: Reverend Annabelle Dixon is a tall, slightly overweight, pastry-loving vicar serving the village community of Upton St. Mary in Cornwall, England. Her sidekicks comprise Philippa, the church secretary, and the church cat, Biscuit. They are always there to lend, if not a hand, an inquisitive ear or, in Biscuits case, utter indifference.
Consternation originally met the arrival of the female pastor, but she soon incited enthusiasm from some and a grudging respect from others as she went about her religious duties with kindess, compassion, and fairness.
In this book, Annabelle, goes to welcome a newcomer to the parish but on her arrival finds him dead from an arrow to the chest. The police are stumped and she sets about using her relationship with the villagers to uncover facts and clues in order to solve the mystery.
As an aside, Annabelle has a crush on the local police inspector, although she would never admit to it. This case brings her together with Inspector Mike Nicholls and their relationship develops. But will it develop very far?
With laugh out loud moments, endearing characters, and a murder mystery to boot, Murder at the Mansion is the perfect way to spend a stress-free, enjoyable evening curled up on the couch or a sunny afternoon on the sofa.
