Understanding the Story of my Life

This book is the story of my life. It hits the nail on the head. It talks about many things that I go through, have gone through, others I know go through, MY FAMILY. The great thing about it is it explains why we do the things we've done. It has helped me to forgive myself some and to start to forgive people who have hurt me. I realize things other people have done to me have been their way of coping with what they have been through and it stems from the same kind of stuff I have been through and helps to explain why I have hurt other people and have done senseless things. I am having trouble explaining, but it is all based on destructive coping behaviors. When upset, some people overeat, some cut on themselves, some drink or drug, some hit people they love, some say ugly things, smash up the house, do senseless things. They're just different expressions of the pain or anger inside, different ways of getting relief or reducing the pressure inside.

They are different emotion driven coping behaviors and they all stem from an upset emotional mind. Now I'm thinking more like the book talks! This book is so unlike any other books I have read. She write it like she is talking to you. It is the stuff she teaches in her therapy group at a hospital. I highly recommend this book. I think it is the best therapy book I have read in a long time. It is easy to read and understand, of making you think about things in new ways and to understand things, when you finish one part you want to read the next one. I think the other reviews on the book are true. I think about the parts of the book the people are talking about and I know where they are coming from. I almost forgot, she is funny, you will laugh and you just might cry because some of it hits home too.
