Sybil Powellabout this book: This book is the final book in the Evergreen series and leads directly on from the two previous books. It continues with the expansion of the farm purchased in the previous book which the mature Francis Clegg (nee Grainger) and her wider family develop into an ever larger and successful business. Along the way they face many challenges; from her son's infatuation with an international model to the decimation of their prize herd of Ayrshire cows with Bovine TB and the recoveries they made both individually and as a family.
It covers the deaths of her in laws, the stresses, difficulties and interplay of staff that nature and fate placed on them. In the end the pressure of her husband's failing health eventually leads, with her increased need for support him, to her retirement. But as in all her life even retirement is not strait forward. It becomes a wider story of the family as they become absorbed into the ever increasing demands of the farm business leading to the next generation's take over.
