Tori Scottabout this book: Blame it on Texas is about a man who must return, at least temporarily, to a life he left behind years ago. A life he hated because he blamed it for killing his mother. West Texas can sometimes be a harsh environment if you only look at the weather and the hard work. But those elements also bring out the best in people, they forge a sense of community in a small town that you don't see in a larger city or in places where life is easy.
My grandparents settled in the area I've renamed Morris Springs in the early 1900's. They came by wagon train and forged farms out of wilderness, enduring everything from tornadoes to blizzards to blistering heat to raise their families. Blame it on Texas draws on some of those experiences, but mostly on the sense of neighbor helping neighbor when times are hard. Though Blame it on Texas is a contemporary romance, you still feel that sense of community through the trials of the characters.
The Blue Heeler in Blame it on Texas is based on my own dog, Blue, who sadly passed away this summer. I have never had a more loving, more protective companion.
