Cheryl Piersonabout this book: This novelette was inspired by the need to come up with a story for an anthology that was built around a summertime theme. What could be more "summery" than a tornado in the middle of an Oklahoma summer? When police officer Steve Cooper meets his new neighbor, Christy Reed, in a hail of gunfire, they both believe it can't get any worse. But when the tornado bears down on the apartment building where they taken refuge, they realize the nightmare has only just begun.
The title comes from the fact that they are both jaded in relationships, but due to circumstances beyond their control, they discover something very different about each other--the 'magic' that had been lacking. Can they make the magic last?
I try to set all my stories in my native state of Oklahoma or our close neighbor, Texas. I've grown up with tornadoes all my life, so it seemed fitting to include one in this story. I hope you enjoy it!
