Linda George about this book: KISS ME, CHLOE began many years ago as one of an aspiring writer's first attempts at writing romance fiction. I knew that the setting of this book would be more vivid to readers if I'd actually been there. In 1976, my husband, Chuck, and I spend six weeks on an RV trip through Denver to Laramie, Wyoming, then back through Colorado following the Continental Divide. We made it to Ouray in time for the Bicentennial celebration and watched the fireworks on a tiny television in our travel trailer. We stayed in Ouray longer than we'd stayed anywhere on our long trip because Ouray felt almost like home. We had pulled our trailer through Loveland Pass on our way there, and while in Ouray we heard that a flash flood had washed cars, trucks, and RVs off the highway. Only a few days had seen us safely through the Pass before others were not so fortunate.
When I decided to write this book, I immediately thought of Ouray. What a perfect setting for a romance! Then I thought about letting my heroine--Chloe--discover Ouray for the first time, after leaving Houston to escape traffic, pollution, and a dead-end job. What better place to be a photographer than the Rocky Mountains? And what a wonderful coincidence that she happened to meet Kyle in Albuquerque on her way to search for the perfect happy-ever-after place to settle in the mountains. I'd been to the Albuquerque Hilton, attending a writers' conference, so it became the perfect meeting place for Chloe and Kyle.
Since we were in Ouray on July 4, 1976, it was natural for that to be the time frame for KISS ME, CHLOE. And while I was polishing the book, I decided it should be the first in a series. The Kiss Me Series of sweet, contemporary romances. The second book in the Kiss Me Series is being written now. It's based on another trip Chuck and I took in 2013 to Peru--to Cusco and Machu Picchu. KISS ME, LYNN is about a woman who falls in love with a tour guide who makes Lynn's visit to the land of the Inca something she'll never forget. Watch for it in March 2014. Next will be KISS ME, CINDY, then KISS ME, FRAN ... And don't forget to look for my historical romances, SILVER LADY and TOM'S ANGEL (the sequel to GABRIEL'S HEART, which I wrote for Harlequin Historicals under the name Madeline George). While you're reading KISS ME, CHLOE, I'll be writing, and writing, and writing ...
