Book Reviews: Never Too Old for Romance by Barbara J. Peters
|5 stars, 3 reviews|
Barbara J. Petersabout this book: Many mature women long for romance in their lives. This novel is a very relevant story of such a woman, Melanie, who hopes for passion and suddenly finds that a former school friend, Mark, is seeking her online. Her life seemed fine: she had a good job, nice house, good husband, family and friends but there was a missing link. Anticipating a 50th high school reunion, causes much angst and ambivalence. The relationship that develops puts herself through a roller coaster of emotions: lust, satisfaction, disappointment, confusion, sadness, and joy. She is forced to re-evaluate her values and adult responsibilities. Above all, she allows herself to be vulnerable and in doing so, she finds strength. Readers will discover the symbolism of the cover's orchids and also along the way will find out a bit about astrology.
Are we ever too old for romance? This novel shows that no matter how old we are, our hearts can leap to the flame.

InspiredAs a book mostly geared to woman I was fortunate enough to have found it. Being in the "mature " group I was inspired by the hope and encouragement that romance could grow with the ages.
While it is certainly fictional in nature I can see the benefit of meeting someone later in life to continue the journey. I enjoyed the glimpses of Paris and London and the astrology inference, although I am not well informed about the subject. Certainly a meaningful story to illustrate a well needed point- that of finding what one needs and not being afraid to take the risks to get it. As a firm believer in monogamous relationships, I was able to see the affair as just part of the story and not in anyway intended to be supportive. Might make an interesting movie. [by GPP]
Most EnjoyableI thoroughly enjoyed Never Too Old For Romance. It was a sweet romantic story with a happy ending. What more could you ask for in this time and age in a world of constant turmoil and strife. Loved the descriptive beauty of Paris. [by Dolores L. from New York]
Great BookGives hope to those of us still looking for "the one" later in life. Enjoyed the book and have recommended it to friends. You really are never to old :)
