Sheila Claydon

Author Sheila Claydonabout this book: I married into a family of tennis players. Consequently tennis has always provided a backdrop to my life. For someone with no ball sense this could have been a disaster. Instead, it gave me all the time I needed to write Double Fault, because writing and thinking about writing is what I do while others play tennis; so what better than to write a romance about a tennis player.

I write light romance. My aim, always, is to give readers the chance to live other people's lives for a few hours. In the case of Double Fault I decided to juxtapose the world of international tennis with the every day slog of a young, single mother because the contrast is so great.

I've spent a lot of my life learning how other people deal with their problems as well as with the good things that happen to them. In Double Fault, Pierce and Kerry (the hero and heroine) have to learn a lot of life lessons before the happy ending. They are both at fault…so the title Double Fault was inevitable given the link to tennis.

I am especially pleased with the cover (designed by Michelle Lee at http://eroticdesign.eroticpen.net/ for Books We Love) because it shows exactly the angst the heroine experiences throughout the book as she tries to make sense of what is happening to her.

I wrote the first draft of Double Fault a long time ago. It spent a decade in a drawer while I did other things. When I eventually decided to revisit it I liked it enough to update it and offer it for publication. Now, with a fabulous cover that just about beckons the reader inside, I like it even more.

I hope readers like it too. It is written from the heroine's point of view but, through her, much is learned about the hero. Thoughtlessness, frustration, a lack of trust, anger, and recklessness are all there, but so is love. In other words, the hero and heroine act just like all of us.
