Donna Michaelsabout this book: Test flying an invisible plane—unreal. Time-shifting to WWII—unbelievable. Capturing a hero—unavoidable. The heroine of my story, Major Samantha Sheppard, is test-flying a military plane when she's suddenly transported into the middle of a WWII dogfight and inadvertently saves a Marine pilot. The last thing Mitchell expects when he lands his battle-damaged corsair on the south pacific base, is abduction by a beautiful woman. Stuck in a cabin when he should be out fighting the war, he refuses to believe her claims of time-shifting and that she's the granddaughter of his best friend, but his attraction to the beauty is undeniable. Never in a hundred years did he anticipate falling for his captor. But when he makes an historical discover that threatens her family's very existence, Sam realizes the only way to fix the time-line is to sacrifice her captive hero...or is it? Can love truly survive the test of time?
That's the premise to my 346 page novel CAPTIVE HERO, the first book in my new Time-shift Heroes Series available at Amazon. I've always been drawn to the South Pacific and WWII so it was only a matter of time before I included it in a book.
A few years back, I had the privilege to pitch this story to the late Kate Duffy from Kensington, and was thrilled when she requested the full MS. Unfortunately, she passed away unexpectedly before she gave me the 'yay' or 'nay'. I didn't have the heart to do anything with the story for quite awhile afterward. It wasn't until this summer, talking to an author friend about self publishing that I decided to dust off the MS, revamp and upload to Amazon.
I am thrilled with the cover. I worked closely with another author friend of mine, both of us buying the rights to all the photos used, and being she had the software, she created the cover I'd described, and viola…my beautiful cover was born.
Hopefully, readers will enjoy the fun, the conflict, and of course, the sizzle of CAPTIVE HERO.
