Book: A Long Way From Eden by Jana Richards

Jana Richardsabout this book: A Long Way from Eden is one of my favorite books, probably because I wrote it in record time. There was something about the characters and the situation – Meg's son has gotten Zane's daughter pregnant – that totally clicked with me, and the writing just flowed. Meg and Zane clash over whether their children should marry. But their reasons have everything to do with their pasts and little to do with the present. Both have been forced to live a lie, and it has affected every aspect of their lives, especially their ability to trust. But with the impending birth of their grandchild, they've both decided they don't want to live that way anymore. Zane decides he needs to learn who his father really is, and Meg decides she has to come clean about her past marriage and her son's father. Without the truth, there's no hope for a future together.
I probably also like A Long Way from Eden so much because the emotion seems to resonate with readers. One reviewer called it "heartfelt" and another an "emotional journey". My editor, when referring to a scene where Zane meets his father, said it was dramatic without being melodramatic. I loved that. I always strive to bring emotion into my writing, and I think I really succeeded with this book.
