Nikki Ryanabout this book: One shot is a contemporary romance about the power of forgiveness and second chances. Sounds sweet, right? Now throw in a gorgeous Swedish hockey player, a girl who wants to set him on fire, a delusional stranger who just won't quit, a perpetual horn-dog for a best friend and you've found yourself a sizzling hot page turner!
The inspiration for this story came from all the time spent at the rink this winter while my sons played peewee and squirt hockey. Write what you know, they say. I spent roughly four months start to finish. There are some writers who can have a few different writing projects going on simultaneously but not me. I'm running a circus around here as it is. I've recently earned my degree in monkey training. K.I.S.S. is my motto these days! (Keep it simple stupid) I finish one before starting the next.
I had a difficult time finding a title for this book. Every possible game rule or hockey phrase has already been taken by other authors. I'll never forget the moment when I was going over the possibilities with my husband and my twelve year sat down next to me and asked me what the book was about. He listened as I gave him the PG- 13 version and when I was finished, he shrugged and asked, "How about One Shot?" Damn! There you have it.
This book is for those of you who love getting lost in a love story full of fiery hot passion, characters you feel you've known forever and heart pounding action at every turn. Enjoy!
Please leave me a review when you are finished. I'd love to hear from you.
