Ilyan Kei Lavanway about this book: I was assigned by my bishop to give a talk about Christmas for a devotional the morning of Christmas Eve of 2016. I prepared my talk in writing, which is a practice I decided upon some years ago. Whenever I receive a speaking assignment with sufficient advance notice to prepare in writing, I prefer to prepare in such manner for at least two reasons: One, I am aware of the fact that the living Prophet and the living Apostles prepare their talks in writing every six months for General Conference, and I want to follow their example. Two, I like to have a written record of what I have expressed, both for myself and to share with posterity and other interested individuals. I believe God gave me a gift to teach and to project myself to my fellow man. I am trying to apply myself and exercise that gift through writing. After delivering my talk, I shared written copies of it with friends in person and on social media. The written copies seemed to generate a lot of interest, and I received many heartfelt, positive comments from various readers. So, I thought perhaps it would be worth the effort to go ahead and publish the talk as a short book, both in print and as an eBook, in order to facilitate reaching a wider audience. This short book is the product of that effort. I love pondering the works of God. I love learning about his magnificent creations and his gospel. I love the integral nature of science and faith. I believe science and faith are not mutually exclusive, but rather mutually supportive. Eventually, we will see that science will catch up with faith, and all the earth will be full of the knowledge of God. While this book was written for Christmas, it is applicable all year long. I pray it will touch many hearts and open many minds. May God bless us all.
