Linda Caddickabout this book: This is a story of journeys – following the footsteps of a vulnerable young girl who travels through 1st Century Palestine, yearning for fulfillment. Her encounters with a controversial itinerant rabbi, who she eventually meets face-to-face in an unexpected way, alters the course of her life, but circumstances becomes increasingly difficult as she is forced to face the consequences of her choices. The journey of her heart and her spiritual journey unfold as she travels the dusty paths, until she is presented with a devastating dilemma – a choice between her will or God's will. Which one will lead her to what she is really seeking?
Whilst this story will definitely appeal to Christian women from teenager to grandmother, this is not your run-of-the-mill Christian book, but presents a fresh, unreligious view of gospel truth. It is a story anyone can relate to, regardless of personal beliefs. I have been surprised to find that men have really enjoyed it too!
The picture of the woman on the cover perfectly portrays the emotional pain and longing of the main character. Much of the story, though it is entirely fiction, reflects my own journey. To research this book, I travelled to Israel and walked the roads that Jesus walked, seeking to gain a better understanding of him as the real, flesh-and-blood human being that he was.
