After the death of her husband and health issues that put her on medical leave, Maven experiences depression. Her best friend, Lizzie, decides she needs to get back to work and and asks her to help with a young woman who is experiencing difficutly with expressing herself after a car accident.
The more she comes to care for her client, the more questions Maven has. What was she doing walking in the middle of the highway at night? Why don't her parents want to find out? Who was really responsible for the accident?
After making a breakthrough, her client abruptly leaves. Maven becomes concerned about her welfare as well as wondering what secrets her family is protecting. Maven becomes determined to not only find her client but to get answers to questions that no one seems to want to ask!
And that's when it becomes deadly!
