Elizabeth Maddrey about this book: Book Four in the Taste of Romance series, A Handful of Hope is the story of Rebecca (from A Pinch of Promise)'s friend, Jen Anderson. Jen struggles with depression and low self-esteem. She doesn't think anyone will ever love her. Enter David Pak. David sees beyond the surface to the woman inside. But will he be able to convince Jen his love is real?
This contemporary Christian romance, set in the metro Washington D.C. area, follows the same group of friends from the first three books (Paige and Jackson in A Splash of Substance, Ben and Rebecca from A Pinch of Promise, and Zach and Amy from A Dash of Daring) and incorporates Jen and David as well as the final friend, Sara (whose book will be released in late 2016). While you don't need to have read the previous installments, you will have a better, clearer picture of all the relationships if you do.
One of the main themes of A Handful of Hope is depression. This is a topic that is woefully under-discussed within the church today (and often when it is discussed, it's not done in a way that's actually helpful to the person suffering.) It's my hope that readers will have something to think about after finishing the book and that it might help start a restorative dialog about this disease.
