Alice Rovneyabout this book: We all have defining moments in our lives. Mine came on April 21, 2008 in the form of a sudden wake-up call that killed my husband and put my child in UC Davis medical center for a week. Always the pacifist, I could never face conflict or even voice my own opinions without worrying that I would lose a friend or seem stupid.
The stark contrast between what I was before that moment and what I became afterwards made me feel like I was destroyed and then reborn a new creature. It reminded me of the Phoenix character in the X-Men comics. That's how I came up with the name of my book. That was the easy part.
The most difficult part of writing the story was convincing me that I should. After all, I'm no celebrity. But that is exactly why my story needed to be told. Average everyday people need to hear the stories of other average everyday people so that we can remember that hope is always present and that our faith in Jesus Christ is a real bond to Him that will pull us through everything life throws at us.
Phoenix: A Testimony of Faith is a story that aims to give its readers renewed hope and strengthened faith. You'll have to read it to find out what became of us and I wish you all of God's blessings and a touch by His Holy Spirit as you do.
