Susan Prestonabout this book: Originally inspired by a Bible Study series the book started with notes and lots of research to back up what I had heard. Then it was delayed while I took my last Microsoft exam to gain the last certification to gain Master status in Office 2007.
It was when we returned from an overseas trip and I was diagnosed with a second and dangerous aneurysm that I remembered the notes. Having been told that it was extremely dangerous and almost inoperable... I remembered the book and thought I had better hurry up and finish it. Originally it was published in September 2012 on Amazon Kindle a week before surgery.
One of the people who bought it wrote to me about a typo. When I had recovered sufficiently from the five hour surgery to be able to sit at the computer, I read my copy and realised in my haste to publish before the complicated operation I had cut but not pasted, so I removed it from sale.
I apologised to readers via my Facebook page... but the revised edition, published in January 2013 is a much richer novel.
The book is set in the First century AD and follows the life of the Apostle John and his family in Ephesus. The reader has the opportunity to 'walk in the shoes' the first Christians, meet some of the Romans who persecute them, the Jews who hate them, and the pagans who surround them.
Hold the Faith is the first novel in the Apostle John series. The next, Grow in Grace, to be released later this year.
I certainly learnt a lot about my faith when exploring how those first Christians lived and had to contend with.
