Book Review: Seeing Jesus by Jeffrey McClain Jonescategories: Book, Romance, Humor, Faith, Inspirational, Speculative, Christian Fiction
Jeffrey McClain Jonesabout this book: I only recently discovered the sub-genre "speculative fiction," a fitting description for my writing. The classic speculation starts with, "What if . . ." In fact, that's how my book ideas begin.
Seeing Jesus came from the question, "What difference would it make if we could see and hear Jesus next to us, as opposed to simply believing that he is invisibly present?" To make it more interesting I chose a guy who wouldn't seem really remarkable to most people, and who barely even believed that Jesus is for real. That starting place takes the story outside the familiar religious boundaries familiar to church people and right into ordinary life.
The story starts with Philly Thompson, but most of all it's a story about Jesus. Since this is fiction, I can imagine what Jesus might do in this situation. The answer to that "might" probably says a lot about who I think Jesus is, aside from my speculative scenario.
One reviewer said, "The author did an awesome job of portraying the unconditional love, passion, and patience of Jesus, as well as the growing faith and understanding of a man who had none." If that reader is even half right, I'd say the book is what I intended it to be, more than just a fun speculation.

Thank you for this bookI'm a rather prolific reader, but never have I been compelled to comment on a book afterwards. Until reading Seeing Jesus. I've come to a very difficult time in my life and this book is exactly what I needed right now. It brought me comfort, it warmed my heart, gave me hope when I thought there was no hope.
Not being a very religious person, much like Philly, I'm surprised I even opted for a book entitled Seeing Jesus. But I am so glad I did! This book touched me in that dark little corner that holds my fears, brought light to that space and hope to my heart. I'm reminded that I am loved, even as I feel the opposite from the person closest to me.
Thank you Jeffrey McClain Jones for writing such a lovely story. Thank you Jesus for helping me to find this book. [by Bonnie]
