Ruth Kyserabout this book: Jennifer Marlowe didn't have any idea how a two-week trip to Manchester, England to visit her friends would completely change her life. Expecting to spend her vacation in England with her pen pal and her husband Daniel, instead they are all invited to a sheep ranch in the Scottish Highlands where she meets a 'tall Scot' named James 'Mac' MacAndrew. His haunted eyes and bitterness toward God touches her heart, and she is torn when she finds herself attracted to him in ways she hasn't felt since her husband passed away.
Just like Jennifer in the book, I too have a pen pal in England with whom I've corresponded for many years. Thinking about going to visit her was where the original idea for this book came from. Then the story sort of took over and the book wrote itself. I had a lot of fun building the characters in this book--especially Maggie, James MacAndrew's housekeeper and good friend.
I especially enjoyed doing the research for "Endless Season" -- about Scottish wool and sheep ranches. There are always new things to learn when you're doing research for a book, and I find that very enjoyable.
The most difficult part of this book was writing about Jamie's/Mac's past. It was such a painful story and heart-wrenching--even to me. I hope it will encourage readers though to keep searching for God's love. He's never left you and is just waiting for you to return to Him.
