Maureen J. Allenabout this book: These books are for parents or carers who read to children. They are not the tradition children's books in that they are not loaded with pictures. A few photos or cartoons are used to illustrate what I talked about. I want to promote reading to children which I think is one of the best ways to ensure that your child will grow up to be a reader. The stories are short and designed to be read at bedtime. The time to read the stories ranges from 5 to 15 minutes.
Each story presents a difficulty a child has and provides a solution by having them experience a Dream Train Adventure. The child learns how inappropriate his behaviour is and how it affects others. The child ends up reflecting on their behaviour and realises how and why it causes problems for them in their life.
In the story, The Land of Books, little Chris learns the biggest lesson from the smallest book in the world, "The Golden Rule".
