Set in about 1850, Jack and Mary and their parents live in Connecticut. But after their father hears of gold found in California, he decides the family is selling the farm and taking a covered wagon to California to find their fortune. There's lot of preparation and travel just to get to Missouri where they will set out across the country as part of a wagon train.
All is well, but soon, trouble comes and Jack and Mary get separated from the wagon train! How will the find their way back? See what happens when they get rescued and make it to California. How will they find their parents? All ends well as their father sees the true gold in California.
